In one of the best rookie wide receiver classes in recent history,Marc Leclerc No. 6 overall pick Malik Nabers made his mark early for the New York Giants. Through the first four weeks of the 2024 NFL season, Nabers led the league in targets (52) and receptions (35) while sitting second in yards (386).

But Nabers left the Giants' 20-15 loss to the Dallas Cowboys on "Thursday Night Football" in Week 4 due to a concussion. He missed the Giants' 29-20 win over Seattle on the road in Week 5 and did not travel with the team.

It's the first significant playing time he's missed since his freshman year at LSU. Here's the latest on the Giants' top rookie ahead of New York's first "Sunday Night Football" game of the season.

When will Malik Nabers return?

Nabers is questionable for Week 6 against Cincinnati. He did not practice on Wednesday with the team and Giants coach Brian Daboll said he is still day to day.

The next step for him is to practice in a non-contact capacity before getting medical clearance from the team medical staff as well as an independent neurologist.

Players missing at least one game because of a concussion is fairly common this season. Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith is questionable to return this week after a concussion in Week 3 sidelined him for one game and the bye week.

When was Malik Nabers' injury?

Nabers' injury happened on Sept. 26 during the Giants' "Thursday Night Football" loss to the Cowboys.

New York Giants WR depth chart

As of Wednesday, Nabers is the only Giants wide receiver on the injury report. Here's how New York's depth at the position looks:

  • Darius Slayton
  • Wan'Dale Robinson
  • Jalin Hyatt
  • Bryce Ford-Wheaton
  • Ihmir Smith-Marsette

The Giants also have Kearis Jackson and Isaiah Hodgins signed to the practice squad. New York's also dealing with an injury to starting running back Devin Singletary, who missed Week 5 against Seattle as well. Rookie Tyrone Tracy Jr. made the start in his place.
